He traveled all the way from Georgia to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, seeking a second chance. However, upon his arrival, the veterinary team discovered something heartbreaking. Rusty was diagnosed with a severe liver shunt. For those who might not know the medical jargon, it essentially means an abnormal blood vessel was preventing his liver from doing its vital job of cleaning his blood.
